Labor day weekend / anniversary celebration
So really for our anniversary we took a quick trip to Denver over Labor day. We had to decide between going to 'the gorge' in Washington state again to see Dave Matthews Band or going to 'red rocks' in Denver to see Allison Krauss and Union Station. Surprisingly, Allison won out over DMB. Getting to Denver was quite the adventure. there were thunder storms in Denver when our plane was supposed to be landing so we were detoured to Steamboat Springs to refuel and turn around and try to fly into Denver again. It then took us another two hours to rent our car and drive out to the amphitheater. We missed the opener and a the first few songs, but what we did see of the concert was amazing!
We spend the rest of the weekend relaxing, eating good food, touring downtown Denver, and staying about two miles from the Phish concert venue. We decided to drive by one night to see if we could hear any of the concert going on and from a mile away we could smell the sweet smell of hippy smokes. We did drive right up to the stage and could hear them singing "The Moma Dance". We had to avoid the sight the rest of the weekend so that Jeph didn't feel bad for being so close and having to miss this once in a life time experience.
It was nice to get away and enjoy a weekend together before that isn't so easy anymore.

4 years together!
August 7th, Jeph and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary. The time has sure gone by fast but it has been a great 4 years! We (Jeph) was sure young back then.
We have sure done a lot of growing up since then. Luckily, it has been a good time together.
This year, our anniversary was on a Sunday so I decided to take Jeph on a Sunday drive to Antelope Island. I had never been there and Jeph hadn't been for a very long time so it was fun to see what nature has to offer not far from home. We enjoyed seeing the buffalo and the sandy beaches. We enjoyed a picnic and watched the sunset on the beach in UTAH - how romantic right?!

Jeph found this ticket stub around the same time. This game was our first date...now I can't believe Jeph willingly went to a BYU game.

10 years
It is crazy to think it has been 10 years since I graduated from Minico High School, but yes it is true. Our reunion was the first weekend in August so I dragged Jeph all the way to Idaho to attend the Friday night festivities. We missed the Saturday activities, but I think one day of reminiscence was enough for me. High school was a good time, but life after has been great as well. Anyway, it was fun to see some old friends again, and some with whom I still keep in contact. Of course I didn't take pictures because I am lame so I tried to find some pictures of graduation ten years ago and these were all I could find:

HOLY MIA / July Activities
I didn't think the time would come when I would be one of those bloggers who did not update for months. And here we are three months later and no updates. How lame are we?! And I am using the excuse that we cancelled our cable/internet and now only use our phone internet so I just don't get on the computer as often anymore. And we don't have a camera and don't remember to take pictures with our phones and I don't like to update without pictures so another reason (excuse for not updating).
So it was a busy, fun summer and now we are already into fall. I just have to say how delightful it was to have the summer off again. I haven't had a summer off since I was in college back in 2004 (I know, forever ago). I love the school schedule for sure! Since Jeph had to work, I left him here and went to Idaho for a week to be with my family, celebrate Independence day, and enjoy a few family reunions. I must say, there is nothing like celebrating the 4th in a small town. It was fun to go to the Rupert parade and enjoy some small town entertainment.
We had the Lowder (my mom's) family reunion during this time. It was great to catch up with my cousins and enjoy time with family we don't see that often. Here is a picture I stole from Lynnette of a few of the cousins that came to the reunion.
The next week I came home and had our first ultra sound to find out what we are having. And of course it is a boy.
That same day we had our 6th annual Simmons Lagoon Day. It wasn't as much fun for me to go on a hot day and just watch everyone else ride the rides. Next year, I'll have to make up for lost time and leave the baby home to enjoy a nice long day at Lagoon. Jeph did win a frog at one of the game stops and the only picture I have is of Lisa, Jeph, and Kim playing Skee ball.
The next day we headed back to Idaho for my sibling family reunion. We went camping at a site just north of Lava Hot Springs. I don't remember the name of the campsite but it was fun anyway. We enjoyed campfires, hiking, talent shows, crafts, a day at Uncle Brent and Aunt Janice's enjoying the water slide and volleyball, and all the other camping fun you can think of. Of course I have no pictures to document this trip, but as you can imagine it was very enjoyable. We were just happy to spend time together as a family and appreciate being able to have all ten of us siblings and both of our parents there (though I wish it could happen more than once a year).
And that was basically how we spent our July. I really enjoyed being able to go to summer family activities without worrying about work and all that business. I didn't get to go to the pool as often as I had hoped, but I enjoyed the trade off of being with family.
(Hopefully, it won't take me another three months to update again.)

Success!
After years of practice, we are pleased to announce that Venita is pregnant! Please feel free to join in our poll as to what we should expect this December. We will get the official word on the 11th so stay tuned for the result!

Graduation Celebration
Jeph and I decided instead of walking at graduation, we would take the couple hundred dollars it would have cost to see one of us walk across the stage and both go on a little vacation instead. We decided to go to St. George because 1) it was close and we could take a weekend trip with minimal travel time, 2) it is considerably warmer than SLC right now, and 3) it is anywhere but home and work.
We drove down Saturday after Jeph got of work and stayed until Tuesday. We were really glad we made the trip the weekend before Memorial day and on week days because everything was considerably less crowded. We didn't run into people everywhere we went and it was delightful. We spent Sunday relaxing with a picnic at the temple (we sat/laid under a tree that looked like a giraffe), learning more about St. George at the visitors center, and watching a few films they were showing there. It was lovely and relaxing.

Monday we went hiking through Snow Canyon. Jeph decided he wanted to hike the volcano which was only 1.5 miles round trip. The brochure said it was difficult, but we didn't believe it, so we started up the volcano. I got about a third of the way and gave up, so Jeph had to go the rest of the way solo. In my defense, the volcano hike was literally straight up and covered in small volcanic rocks which slid out from under your feet with every step you took. It was nearly impossible to make any progress and the thing that did me in was realizing if I kept going up, eventually I'd have to find a way back down. YIKES! Even with the small portion I had already hiked, I ended up sitting on my feet/butt and sliding down because it was better to choose that method than have it chosen for me by gravity. So I when I got to the bottom I climbed the miniture volcano a third of the size of the one that Jeph climbed and felt less like a hiking failure.

After that we were both exhausted and decided to stick with the easy, short trails in the canyon. I know Jeph has some major rock climbing skills so I convinced him to free-climb a a rock, which he did like a pro. It was still very delightful. After we decided to go for a drive through Tuachan and to see if Jeph's old friends the Smiths/Shurtliffs were home. Jeph spent a few summers working on their ranch, which is what helped him accept and kinda like the simple country part of me. Unfortunately they were not home so we took a picture and enjoyed the scenic drive through Gunlock and headed back to the hotel to spend some time at the pool. FANTASTIC!
That night we went out for our big graduation dinner and took the recommendation of Jeph's parents and ate at Anasazi Steakhouse. We got the famous hot rock steaks and fondue for dessert. So DELICIOUS! Luckily, they are looking at opening a restaurant here in the new City Creek Development, not that we can afford to eat there often or ever again, but it was still so good (just stick with the mashed potatoes and don't get the rice.)
That night we hit up the Fiesta Family Fun Center and played a round of mini golf and went to the batting cages. I've never done that before, but thanks to years of church softball growing up, I wasn't terrible.
Tuesday, we hit up the outlets on our way home. What a good weekend.
Of course we missed our little Co6aka like crazy and were super excited to see him when we got back. I think he missed us too.

I am a week behind, but nonetheless I wanted to congratulate our nephew Johnny for being the Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Developer Hero of the Week last week!

Graduation
As many of you may know, both Jeph and I graduated on Saturday! It was a very exciting day for both of us. Now we can enjoy some time relaxing without the thought of homework hanging over our heads. It is pretty fantastic. Below is a picture of what we would have looked like if we had walked at graduation. Unfortunately, our commencement ceremonies didn't work to our favor and neither of us ended up walking.
